Camping Idaho for hunts

For the guys that hunt Idaho, are you confident leaving camp (wall tent etc...) near a road that you'll return to it as you left it? Especially if not leaving a vehicle at camp? Just curious if
people have had issues over there. Either way, I'm gonna have one way in/one way out entrance with an overhead trail cam on mine next year, or at least an open area with some traffic I guess.

I think Idaho is a little more "Yellowstone" esque.  If you mess with someone's stuff, you might find yourself dropped off at the train station.  Nobody has ever bothered anything of mine and I would actively intervene if I thought someone was messing with someone's stuff that wasn't theirs.  Many folks leave camps up all summer (which they shouldn't do) and as far as I know, nobody bothers them.  I'm not suggesting you throw caution to the wind, but I wouldn't expect any issues.

I've never had an issue in the panhandle, I've never met anyone who has either... keep the valuables out of site and a little smoke coming off a fire and I don't think you'll have visitors

We had 0 problems over several trips.  People are few and respectful.

Used to hunt 10a for elk every year, NEVER had an issue and we were on a main logging road.  My past hunting partner was so trusting (stupid) that he'd leave his wallet on his dash the entire trip, with the doors unlocked.  Love Idaho for that!!

Never had anyone mess with our stuff in Idaho or Washington.

Had a group of moose hunters get 20 gallons of diesel stolen from there camp right near us in remote Idaho a few years ago. Plenty of tweakers there too

In southern idaho this past year someone stole my trailer hitch and I didnt notice until it was time to leave. Made for interesting times when I went to hitch up my trailer to leave and we were 2 hours drive from town. Fortunately some nice Oregonian sold me a hitch a few miles down the road.

As long as you’re off the main road, you’re usually 99% good most of the time. That being said, I’ve seen tweakers in some weird places and they have packed up entire camps with the utility trailer before. Stay away from Weippe and you’ll be good if you’re hunting 10a

A few years ago we hunted the Pioneer zone for elk and made several trips back and forth. We left our wall tent up for almost a month and never had any issues.

I bought property there. Doesn’t seem to bad to me? Few tweak places. I’m hoping a lot of money comes in in the next 5-10 years and they leave

I have left my hunting camps unattended for looong periods of time over many years. I have never had any problems in the past. With that said Idaho seems to be changing for the worst, so I will probably be more cautious in the future. If you are reasonably careful I dont think you will have any problems.

Wall tenting it for 40 years and we have never had an issue. We are next to a main road. Only issue we had was we set up in a locals( spot) and they pulled in parked two feet from my uncles trailer and proceeded to set up camp.
