.277 Sierra 140 Tipped Game King
« on: February 07, 2023, 09:30:02 AM »
Saw these while out of town for my sons hockey tournament. I've been looking for them, just haven't seen any. At $20 per 50, are they as good as the trusty Nosler Accubond? The 140 Accubond has put a lot of meat in the freezer, whitetail, mule deer, and a big cow elk. I'm not worried about the Noslers being twice as expensive, curious if the Sierra TGK is as good for half the price. I've been kicking around loading up some 130gr Speers, or shooting factory ammo this fall. Right now, I plan on zeroing in with these TGK bullets. Anyone use them in their .270 win and have on game performance to share?
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

I shoot TGK and TMKs out of 2 different 6.5cm and the 130 gr projectiles are very accurate but I think youll find them quite different from the Accubonds, bonded core vs. non-bonded core TGK.

Sierra TGK and TMK are premium bullets and do kill well.  Theyre all I shoot in 6.5.

I shoot the factory 130gr load TGK in one rifle 1/2 moa, and the TMK hand loads out of the other sub 1/2 moa.

I think you will find them to much more like the Nosler ballistic tip.  I have heard they are very accurate and likely a great choice for deer.  The fact they are not bonded would make me steer clear of them for larger game such as elk or moose.

I personally would stick with accubonds if you can find them.....much better bullet.  If you heart desires something new...try the 117 grain Hammer Hunter for deer, bear and elk.  Fast, flat shooting, deep penetration and great terminal ballistics.  Otherwise stay with the trusted accubonds for the win.

 :yeah:

TGK being more of a heart lung bullet where as Accubonds can pull bunker buster duty to a degree.
