We will be hunting the Luangwa Valley in Zambia for Buffalo and plains game.  10 day hunt starting on the 2nd of June.  I’m really hoping to kill a big, old full boss 40+ Buffalo with lots of drop.  I have Kudu on quota as well.  Other plains game animals such as Waterbuck aren’t under quota, so hopefully we will see some good ones.

I already had $10k set aside just for trophy fees.  Buffalo, Kudo, and Waterbuck will pretty much eat those up now.  Still would like an Impala, warthog, and a Puku, but that will add another $2500 now.  Free Range in Africa isn’t cheap.

Don’t cut yourself short. I know a budget is a budget, but for most, this would be a once-in-a-lifetime! I and my son went over budget on extra trophy fees, shot many no charge culls also. Extra money well spent imo👍

Oh I’ll be back.  I LOVE Africa.   There’s a couple other animals I want to take that I can’t on this trip.   Plus, the budget is pretty tight on this one.  An expansive trip turned into a REALLY expensive trip when my Mother in Law found out. 🤣.  After the hunt, we fly to Joburg where we meet my MIL, and my wife and daughters.  We are then spending 6 days at Kruger and then flying to Vic falls for another 3…….  I never had any desire to hunt leopard, but after talking to my FIL about his hunt, I think I’d like to try that some day.  May have to win the lotto first for that one though.

Wouldn’t ya know it….  Got this nice Kudu not long after an extremely, extremely too close encounter stalking Cape buffalo in thick coverage.  Even with a 416, I felt like the hunted.
