I never met him or talked with him, but after reading the story about him, I would have liked to have known him. RIP Sir

I only met with him 3 times --all in the last year. Enjoyed every minute of talking with him.  He made a big impression on me with his knowledge and personality. He also got a cougar tanned for me. Thanks George

I met George in April 1980 at a Regional Meeting in Ephrata prior to the fish opener. Man, did he give the Game Dept Director Hell for failing to deliver a load of deer fencing. Classic George, stood by his principles. Exceptionally smart guy. Always a pleasure to work with or talk to. Drank a beer or two with him on occasion. Should be lots of great George stories at the celebration. He will truly be missed.

There will be a memorial service on July 21st at 7:00 PM at Memorial Park in Pateros WA.
I will be there for Branda and her family.
I think we should show a big force of WSTA members.  :salute:
See you there.

George was one of our original crew and really knew how to liven up a WSTA Rendezvous, he will be surely missed. :salute:

Trapper
The smoke curling from the chimney
Was such a beautiful sight
As the Trapper returned to his cabin
With the last rays of the day's light

It had been a few weeks
Since with his Family he'd been
And he was so glad in a few moments
He'd see them again

The Kids raced to the door
As he stepped inside
Followed close behind
By his beautiful Bride

He loved his life
Being at one with the land
But he knew his greatest blessings
Were those now holding his hand

The life of a mountain man
With the objects of his love
So thankful for it all
To the Lord God above...

Great picture. I think George alway considered himself young at heart.
I would call at the beginning of the season for market estimates, to see it it was going to be worth trapping. Then pick on him for being a cheap skate.

He was lucky that he lived life till the end.
George and the rest of  that have passed have done great work for the trapping industry.

I hope we have new blood to fill those Giant shoes.

RIP my friend
