The Chair Baker podcast is out now among other updates
« on: August 04, 2023, 09:40:06 AM »
Good morning everyone, wanted to come on here and announce that the Chair Baker podcast is out now! On this episode, a panel of sportsmen and woman sat down and had another fireside chat with a Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife Commission member to talk with WDFW Commission Chair Barbara Baker. The line up consists of Charles Whitwam, founder of HOWL for Wildlife, I, Will Christenson the next-generation hunter, Gary Strassburg, Marie Neumiller of Inland Northwest Wildlife Council and Ryan Garret of Blue Ridge Rifles who facilitated the meeting with Chair Baker. Go give it a listen as you won't want to miss it!

I am also proud to announce the creation of the Conservation Coalition of Washington! We are a group of everyday hunters with a love for our state, wildlife, and our public lands. Our mission is to protect hunting rights, traditions, and the hunting lifestyle in Washington State while promoting conservation through hunting, upholding standards to showcase the value of hunters, monitoring wildlife management agencies, maintaining open communication for a sustainable future, and safeguarding our way of life for future generations of Washingtonians. We are proud hunters and conservationists.

If you are interested in joining hit me up. Its time hunters get organized and unite in Washington. We will continue to do our best to get hunters involved and aware of what's going on. We have a group chat and Facebook group that is active. The next commission meeting is in Olympia on August 10th-12th. The North American Model will be presented by Dr. John Organ one of the original writers of it and a member of Boone and Crockett. A Spring Bear petition will be presented and a Social Science briefing will be presented as well. If anyone is interested in testifying hit me up so we can help get organized. We expect this meeting to be packed with antis as Washington Wildlife First is hosting an event while the commission meeting is happening. That group along with about 20 anti-hunting groups presented the commission with a petition to prevent the downlisting of wolves and they are rallying members of their groups to speak at the commission meeting. We can't let them pack this meeting. But, we are working on strategies for open public comment such as asking to be signed up to speak last. Hunters need to be speaking up, it can't just be the same dozen speakers at each meeting. We can do this if we stand together!

I just listened to it,since I'm kinda laid up on the couch.

But ya few points that are pretty sad to hear are.
That the decision for spring bear was based on the comments.
The 30,000 comments or whatever.
I would rather see comment reform over the conversation draft policy in my opinion.
Basically you should have to enter a valid Washington state driver license number to leave a comment. That would give everyone that has a valid id in this state a word at the table.
If your gonna base decision on the stake holder in this state.
Then why not make dang sure your getting accurate data.

Another sad point I thought was pretty sad.
Was she said she hasn't seen the presentation on the predator/prey project. She said they don't like to base decision on 1year of data.
Yet we have a 5 year study, that was done to do research on biodiversity. The presentations are on wdfw YouTube channel and on the WSU website.
Yet you haven't taken the time to see the results, after you always claim you need more science is crazy.

I will give her a thumbs up for being on the podcast, trying to answer some hunter questions. Being honest and upfront gains a little respect.

Still does not have my trust that's for sure.

Very troubling.  Skepticism is warranted.  Her references and outside advisors provide context to her actions at the commission.  Terrifying interview overall.  Do you have the link to your interview of Ragen?

Baker has said several times now where the next fight is. "Perhaps we need to change the Wdfw's legislative mandate." We are closing in on thier illegal maneuvers so they are going to push state legislators to make it legal retroactively.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Here is the Regan interview. Gives a little more insight on their thoughts on the biologists' work on the spring bear populations and why they still did away with it.
