Every time I go there, I catch 3 or 4 bluebacks to every bow.  They usually run around 3#'s - pretty darn big.  I hear the bows, however, are monsters - 10#ers.  I didn't know the fishing was so good in the summer.  In early spring we usually spend several hours in the morning to catch our limit of 2 each between my partner and I.  I hear the big ones are caught in the winter.

Yea you have to wonder what those Indians are feeding those fish in the pens.. Some look like a football with a head that are caught down there.

they're triploids. they don't spawn, so they don't lose weight..alls they do is grow.
they are typically fed pellet food, like cat food. i am curious as to what they taste like. trip's typically have a reputation of tasting like boot leather.

They're better than the wild fish!  We eat them all the time off the grill.  My wife landed this 18lb this January.

They eat awesome, better than any trout youll ever catch.  Compareable to steelhead only really oilly.  You dont need much butter when barbequeing them.  The are so delicious, thats why I go, fill the freezer.  Fishing this summer was so good because they had 40,000 escape the best I did with lures was 7 in a row.  Awesome time, you got to try it.

So they raise those in the pens right? any idea what they do with em? Do they raise em for some market or just for restocking lakes?

They go to the market.  They grow them to 5 lb in 18 months!  Fast growers and good eating.

Good god!  Looks like you would need salmon gear for those things :chuckle:
Probably need a punch card for those too :chuckle:
Very nice fish

Believe it or not-  that's the truth.  They will take lots of different baits and in the winter the bank fishing is great.  I used a slip bobber 6' deep with a Gulp bait worm and did well.  My wife likes power bait on bottom...She still chirps at me about that fish...

They taste great just like salmon basically. The main reason they get so big is all the food they eat goes into making them fat not growing reproductive parts. They also love to for some odd reson and they want to eat more than wild fish jits just the way they are raised I guess.
