I have a brake on my 300wm. I can shoot it all day long. Recoil is great. Noise is not great. People have actually bitched about it at the range. If you are prone the  dirt  flies a little too. I love it though

would a muzzle brake help or be dumb on a 300 win mag? i love my 300, but, I also happen to love high grain ammo  :chuckle:  but .. it kicks so hard im not as accurate as I am with other guns.

You shouls check out the web site NO-KICK, ordered a a recoil reducer for my 338WM and can shoot all day with no flinching

I have two rifles with muzzle brakes not counting the AR's. A Browning BAR .270 with the BOSS and a Winchester model 70 in .270 that I had a Que Industries brake installed. I broke my shoulder many years ago and I am really sensitive to recoil and can't imagine firing any high powered rifle without some kind of recoil reduction. I was at the range with my Win .270 prior to the brake and had it in a bad spot on my shoulder and it nearly crippled me for two years. Yes, the brakes make it loud to     by standers and I am sorry for that but for my own comfort I choose to have a muzzle brake. The BAR BOSS makes the .270 recoil like a .243. I am looking at fitting all of my larger caliber rifles with a brake or Magna Port or some sort of recoil reducing system for my own comfort. Hearing protection is easy and cheap and at the range all are required to have it anyway!
