First time out this season tomorrow.

Should I be watching the hillside that there are hopefully berries left or should I call and try to get a bear to come in?

See if you can places to do both.

Up here in the NW counties, there are still berries in cool and shady places like directly below and north of ridges, steep draws, near water

Find the elderberries and find the bears…..Eastside anyways.  A week ago we were seeing them all over the elderberries and on open hillsides.   Above Apple and pear orchards would also work.

I got out for the first time the same day you did, and not very far from where you live. I had scouted a couple of good-sized berry patches in the spring but all the berries were gone when I got back there. The only ones I could find where where the vines had climbed up trees so far that the fruit was 10-15 feet off of the ground.

I glassed a lot and called for an hour or so but didn't see a thing. On the other hand, I get to keep hunting...

Definitely not my first time out.
Probably opposite,too many times out.

But will say the only bear sign I've seen . Is the bear that tore down my corn feeder and emptied the five gallon bucket.
Then took a huge crap about a hundred yards away.
Then showed up the next nite. Just to make sure it was all gone.

I hung it over a branch and just had it hanging right next to the tree.
That was a mistake, from the look of it. It climbed the tree and put it's weight on the bucket. Not sure if the feeder motor broke off the bucket when it fell. Or if he broke it off. Bucket had some claw marks, bite marks in it. The trail cam wasn't pointed at the feeder.
So I don't know what exactly happened.
It had been about five days for him to find it. It was filled with apple corn. And only nite pics, two nights.
