What Sabots are best
« on: June 10, 2009, 07:19:46 AM »
I have a .54 cal Lyman Trade rifle and plan on using this year as I drew the multi season permit. I used to use the Hornady great plains slugs when I did hunt ML back in the 80's and early 90's but havent used it since. Now that were able to use copper plated jacketed saboted bullets do you guys have any experience with any that you could share or any recomendations?

Thx,
Dave

“Best” really depends on your particular rifle and the bullet you are using.  I haven’t used sabots out of a .54 so I can’t give you a recommendation but I would start with MMP, they have a lot of good info on their site.

I agree, the MMP sabots are great. I use the green .50 cal sabots in a Black Diamond and a Traditions and a CVA. They are hard to beat and Cabelas usually has them on the online website.

I shoot the knight dic extreme with the western disc conversion. I have allways shot the Precision Rifle bullets but am going to look around and see what I can find with a Copper jacket and give them a try. Going to be chasing a big Bull in the Mudflow with this gun so wanna make sure I'm shootn good.

Is the taste of the bait worth the sting of the hook twice?
