New Decoys
« on: November 16, 2025, 10:36:37 AM »
I don't usually start duck hunting until after Thanksgiving. Last year I gave all my floaters away to a high school kid thinking I'd get new this year. What is everyone's opinion on the best decoys for a reasonable price these days? Thanks in advance for your help

Id also ask what kind of hunting youre doing. I like tge heyday decoys for hiking in to public land and cutting pounds, and theyre still a quality decoy. For floaters from the boat i really like my ghg pro grade xd floaters but looking at picking up some of the new dsd maximas

I don't really have a budget but I don't need to spend more than necessary.  No hiking in. I'll leave them at a private blind on a pond.

Sx decoys are extremely durable. If your not packing in all the time I would go avian x or final approach live series. But all three are great decoys.

Rogers Sporting Goods has a sale on various decoys right now.  GHG fit the price.  Avian X seem to have the better paint and hold up better.  If you want USA made and durable G&H is a solid option.  If you want to just blow money, Heyday & DSD are available.  Duck decoys are good at luring the hunter.

I mostly use wigeon decoys and enjoy the GHGs. Newer Pro Series look great but seem less durable than my older style with that 60/40 removable keel. Off season searching can find em for less than $10 apiece.

My vote is Avian X decoys. I have 9 dzn mallard and wigeon. Have had them for 4 years now, they have held up great.
