Cuddeback Capture?
« on: June 10, 2009, 07:54:47 AM »
So I am looking at getting a trail camara, what I want is a leaf river, but I just cant afford almost $400.  So now I am lloking at the Cuddeback Capture.  Does anyone on here us these, are the good?  And is says delay is as slow as 30 seconds.. is that good?   Sorry if I am asking stupid questions, I don't know much about these trail camaras.
Thanks

I believe the 30 seconds is not the delay time? It is the recovery time. (The time it takes to process the information after it takes a picture untill the camera is able to take another picture.) It use to be one minute. Althou trail cameras are able to take pictures in a burst mode.(2 or 3 pictures one right after another)

Here is a site for Trail Camera reveiws. Do some reading here and then decide.

That too looks awsome, man, can't decide, I will have todo some research.  How do you like Moultrie?  How long does the battery last for you?
Thanks Again

Okay, that makes more sence, thanks.  Does that mean after each pic, it has to wait 30 seconds for it to process before it can take the next pic?

Yes. The I40 is a good camera but it has a slow trigger speed. You need to use bait in front of the camera to hold the animal while it takes a picture.(3 seconds)Trigger speed is the amount of time it take for the camera to wake up from sleep mode until it takes a picture. So the camera senses motion wakes up and then takes a picture. The Cuddeback has a 1/2 second trigger speed. So you won't miss an animal that walks by.

What would you suggest slider?  Get the Cuddeback for $200 or the Moultrie for $164?

well i have no arguments... but we have had our camera out for 3 weeks and not had to change the battery.
we have caught all of our animals in the act and the trigger speed has not been a problem for us.
for the money you cant go wrong with it.
look at some of my trail cam postings and you will see.

I repeat the earlier question: "What would you suggest?  Get the Cuddeback for $200 or the Moultrie for $164? "

I've been looking at both.  It appears that the primary difference is trigger speed: how important is that?  Also, the Moultrie has an IR flash while the Capture does not.  How important is that?

Thanks for all the input.
