Eastern turkeys, scouting for phantoms
« on: January 21, 2024, 06:51:09 PM »
I just started my pursuit for the Easterns!! Went out scouting yesterday hiked around all day and no sign of life yet. Never really been scouting for turkeys before just always have been able to find them while hunting, but I know that the easterns are a different story then the turkeys in Eastern Washington. last year I was trying for the slam I was able to get my rio and merriam but just didn't have time for the eastern. This year I'm hoping to be able to find these phantoms. Ive probably read every post on here that's even remotely related to the topic and learned a lot already just gotta get out there. Any tips for scouting or areas to check out would be much appreciated!!!

I worked with a guy that would get a slam pretty regularly. I doubt anyone will be handing out spot for you, but I’d look at harvest statics and go from there. Not sure which area you’re targeting out west, but if a slam is your goal target the eastern first. Getting the rest is a pretty easy after that.

There are few places that I’m gonna be checking out in the next couple months around Pe ELl, Centralia, and Vader. I’m not gonna check any places off my list untill I’ve spent way too much time without finding any sign of turkey's
