Hancock land management
« on: February 25, 2024, 10:57:35 AM »
Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody has information on Hancock Land management lands , if you’re allowed to hunt on the westside  without a permit, I looked on their website and I can’t find WA. Also on ONX it says WA Access Area.

It's mixed you'll have to go to their website for details.  Most have an access fee but some pieces have free access.

Typically you purchase a permit from them online then you would get a key to the gate for the area you had a permit for. It appears Hancock sold their land at least in the Orting and Kapowsin tree farms. It is now owned by Hampton LUmber. Where are you looking at?

Yeah I am guessing OnX isn’t up to date if they sold their land. I went to their website and like you said Hancock no longer has Washington in their drop down menu.

Yes, Onx does not update regularly, the property I purchased a few years ago took over a year to update to my name with the app.

They go by Manulife right now. They do sell access permits for Kapowsin. Probably just took it down for now so that people arent confused and buying a permit thats about to expire... They usually change over permit years on 4/1 I think?

That permit area does have Hampton land as well as other landowners in it.  Likewise, Hampton's Eatonville permit has some Manulife property enrolled in it.  OnX only shows ownership, not what permit the lands may be enrolled in.

PIERCE COUNTY
Our forestlands in Pierce County all require recreational access permits.  The majority of our Pierce County lands are a part of our expanded Eatonville recreation area, previously managed by Manulife Investment Management (Hancock Forest Management).  Permits are available for purchase now through the My Outdoor Agent platform. There are a total of 275 permits available, though they are selling quickly.  The recreation term for the Eatonville permit begins May 1 and ends December 31 each year. The property is closed to all recreation access from January 1 to April 30. While the permit is similar to years past, it has changed in some ways.  Please refer to the permit agreement to answer most if not all of your questions.  Should you have additional questions after reading through the agreement please route them through My Outdoor Agent, the recreation managers.

I am not sure about the unit he is trying to hunt if they bought that or not but kapowsin is now owned by Hampton as far as I can tell.

Hancock does not charge in eastern WA, are you sure they charge n western WA? Google them and give them a call.

If they don’t then it’s free access correct?
