I’m sure it’s been posted already somewhere but we headed down today to scout for the youth hunt to find that the 80,000 acres of Western Pacific Timber company land is no longer open to the public. Drove to one of our spots to find no trespassing signs everywhere. Got on their website and read that because of fire danger and liability they are no longer enrolled in the feel free to hunt program. Going to call on Monday to double check but my plans are definitely ruined for the kids. Going to be a lot of surprised hunters on the opener.

This closure went into effect last year. They said fire danger but they are selling off parcels like crazy.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Theres a ton of timberland being sold in this state to conservation groups and developers and private residents/investors.  My neighbor bought a 160 acres from Weyco and I picked up 80.  Another developer picked up 600.  If you need a yarder to log its being sold.  They only want land that grows trees fast that you can harvest with a one man crew in a processor.   Log it and flip it is the new forest management plan.

All that’s said is true. Sad for it to be gone non the less. Wish wdfw would pick up a big chunk of it but that’s most likely not going to happen.

And they wonder why license sales are down.
Cant find any wheres to hunt any more.
Either have your own property, have friends or relatives that do or pay for access.
For the size of this state its pitiful how much public land we dont have.
