daiwa saltist 15-30 mh spinning rodshimano spheros reel, its a budget saragosa. the only downside with the spheros is the line capacity....id rather run a 6k size but the 8k which is a little bulkier is whats needed to load 300 yards of 40lb braid.edit...this is what i use for swim baits.are you looking for a set up for live bait?
Running spinning gear for live anchovies is something not regularly done, as once albies take the anchovy a good count to 5, then slowly engage drag on lever drag reels to engage the drag. But, I like the way you're thinking! On a spinning outfit, it requires a flip of bail and reaching up to increase drag. It can be done of course, as I regularly utilize my spinning set up (Shimano Twin power, 8000 and 10000 on matching Terez rods) for Yellowfin Tuna in Panama, and throwing live bait to sunning Stripped Marlin and throwing irons. Heck of alot of fun. Not sure what your budget is, but Penn makes a live liner spinning reel set up that is reasonably priced.
Are we talking about 20-30# albacore off the WA coast or big tuna? There’s a difference.

Any of you used the hood that you shove a herring into and peg it in place? I thought those looked like they would work good.
