just wondering
« on: June 18, 2009, 11:09:06 PM »
Of what to expect durring my first year of archery season. Is it crazy and a mad house like modern firearm? Or is it just mellow and not all wacked out.. It is my 2nd year hunting so im still weighing out the pros and cons of each side. Anyways have a great night!

Where i hunt at theres a few bow hunters but its no where near as bad as rifle hunting. It probably depends on where your hunting at though. Good luck this bow season. There's nothing like watching your arrow go though the animal your shooting at, You'll be hooked after that.

I have found archery hunting much more mellow. Much more relaxed and even if you have some competition in your area, most of the time you will not see them in the woods. Your fellow archery hunters have to deal with all the elements just like you.

Definetly more mellow.  I hunt with usually 8 other guys, and we dont usually see each other after hiking in together until we hike out.  We do meet up for lunch in the timber or a nap but that is it.

Generally I've found that all it takes to not see anybody else in the woods bowhunting is to walk 1/2 mile from the road.  If you do see someone, then it's a fluke.  If you get past a mile from the truck and are not on a known trail, then you won't see anyone at all.

The animals are more relaxed in archery season too. I really like not hearing the report of all those cannons running around the woods :chuckle: :chuckle: of course unless it's my own.

that's the same for modern  :dunno: maybe even less guys a mile from the truck during riffle season since riffle season tends to bring out the fair weather hunters a lot more than bow season. i always kinda chuckle when guys talk about how crowded riffle season is, if your hunting in  a crowed your not working hard enough  :twocents:

its great, and if you actually hunt and by that I mean hike, like already stated 99% of the time you see NO ONE... and if you do your homework you should see plenty of game and have a great chance to fill your tag
