Snoqualmie Tree Farm
« on: October 20, 2024, 08:16:56 AM »
Anyone got any luck yet in the Snoqualmie tree farm yet? I’ve been out about 6 mornings so far without a single bit of luck.

I am however trying to hike around and am probably beat by the guys 5 miles deep in their trucks (my bike got stolen right by gate 4 on opening day :'(, so I’m stuck hiking until I get a new one).

I've seen a lot of does lately, but I've only seen one buck so far during rifle season.  He was a 4x4 stud with a rack that looked like a mule deer.  But he was 750 yards away and was back in the timber less than 5 minutes after legal light never to be seen again.   I saw 7 or 8 bucks during archery season, (5 were in a nice friendly bachelor group) but couldn't ever get within bow range.  Talked to the warden on the way out yesterday afternoon, and he said a 10-year old girl shot a forkie yesterday morning.

Also, I like the snoqualmie tree farm for bears, but it's not very good for deer, imho.  Yesterday, as happened to me several times last year also, I saw more cougars than bucks.  Had a juvenile ran across the logging road right in front of my truck and missed him by less than 3 feet.  If he'd stopped less than 20 yards into the timber, this would be a different story but he just kept on running unfortunately

Been in 3 days, haven't seen a deer yet. Lots of bear scat though. In the past I've hunted the north part of the farm, but that's no longer part of the farm.

If the bear scat is fresh I'd just switch over to hunting bears.  I haven't seen much hear scat in a month.
