Where to sit in a clear cut?
« on: November 14, 2024, 06:35:11 PM »
Do you guys like to sit in the skid road that is in the cut or like to walk out and sit in it? Or walk out and sit right in front of a tree line? Just trying to figure out out where to sit. I’ve tried walking out in them but they are super loud. Also trying to learn to hunt the older reprod too that’s like 7-8 years old. Any tips would be awesome thanks guys

I usually sat just inside the trees on whichever side I thought would hide me best.

Avoid sitting in a clear cut. Sit in the woods.

The animals live in the woods.
A remarkable experience is one where the pain is forgotten so quickly, the frustrations and struggles are forgotten the minute you’re done.

I can’t wait to do it the next time.

Lotsa variables that make it hard to give a universal answer. A general practice that has paid off for me is to find the part of the cut that is not visible from the road.  :twocents:

It all depends on the clear cut. I like to walk through clear cuts in the middle of the day just looking for sign, what areas are being used, are they coming into the cut from one patch of timber or another, some cuts get heavy use in one small area that can't be seen from the road, others get a lot of use throughout and the animals come up on the roads in them. So, it depends on what parts are being used, and what direction the wind is blowing, then look at the topography of the cut and make a decision. Sometimes I sit right off the landing, sometimes I hike out in the middle of it so that I can see the one most important part that the game is using.
