If you jump the starter solenoid with something will the starter fire off?

I tried that, if I did it right, and it would not fire

Are you pushing the left peddle to the stop before you turn the key?

FYI TT is usually very busy. Does great work but can be a few week wait at this time of year.

Check the compression release valve. Remove spark plug and see if it turns over/cranks.

Give the side of the starter a couple good hits with whatever tool you can reach it with and then try the key.

You need to give more info than motor spins free.

Are you saying you the starter motor actually works with the key?

It was click no start. Now is it key on, starter working, no start?

These lawn mowers are that complicated if we have all the steps, we can figure this out.

You did x now y happens or you did x now nothing happens. You need fuel, air and spark.

Finally had some more time today. Pulled all the connections and cleaned them up. Reattached everything good and made sure I had battery power.  Checked the brake and blades. Checked the solenoid connection and fuse again. Smacked the starter a few times with a hammer. It fired up, sputtered and ran. Will see how she goes
Thanks to everyone who commented and gave suggestions
