idaho hunt 1001
« on: June 26, 2024, 06:30:29 AM »
my dad drew hunt number 1001, basically the panhandle deer tag from aug 30-dec 1. couple questions, as we have not hunted a permit in idaho. does he turn in his unit 6 tag and get a permit tag, or does the state send his permit and his unit 6 tag is what he still uses on the hunt? secondly we are very familiar with unit 6 and some of 4. but with such a large area to hunt, how do you recommend we go about this.  i dont want to spread our selves too thin trying to look everywhere, but dont want to isolate ourselves to one general area.  One friend says "hunt the area you know" but on the other hand i want to say, "yea but what about these other areas".  anyone hunted this tag before, what was your approach, thanks for the input.

I'd call to confirm, but you will have to mail in your general tag first. They won't send you the special permit until they have your tag. You will get a tag that looks like your unit 6 tag but it will say something with 1-1 on it. You don't get a piece of paper like WA.

I'm also not sure you can exchange them at any ID vendor, has to be regional or main offices of IDFG.

This is where to send it:
IDFG Licenses
P.O. Box 25
Boise, ID 83707

Hope you have a great hunt!

Outdooraddict - how did your dad’s hunt turn out with his Idaho CH? I drew the same permit, plan on hunting unit 1 for Muleys mainly, but won’t pass up an opportunity on a good whitetail.
