Today, with the 55-200VR lens. Stoked to try it out Monday, or tomorrow.

Headed out to take some more .............. controversial photos?  :chuckle:  Just kidding man.  Congrats, should have some fun with that one.  I have the canon rebel, it takes really good pics.  Just wonder how much better the 40d is.

I've got the D-40x, and my mom has the D-40.  They both take amazing pictures.  You won't be let down with that one.

Here's a shot with the D-40x from 3/4 mile, handheld, from a vibrating helicopter, with 55-200 non-VR lens on auto mode

And here's one from 800 yards, handheld on sports mode with same 55-200 lens

Needless to say that the camera will do wonders.  I can't wait to get the 70-300 VR lens!

Congrats, Dman.  Its nice to know that not everyone is overcome by the obvious Canon bias on this site. :chuckle:  Welcome to the dark side.

From what I've heard the 70-300 VR is a dynamite lens for the price, once you go VR you'll never look back!

I went in the store open to Canon, or Nikon, but the guy offered me a really good deal on the Nikon, lot's of extras, case, digital albums, etc., and I liked the feel of the Nikon better.

i bought a Nikon d40 a couple years ago and really am happy with the quality and the ease of using the features..my kids are in sports and thought i needed a better than average set up.I'm certainly not a Photographer like alot of these other guys on here but as a recreational shooter I can say that you will be really satisfied with this camera.
