Jetty Fishing

Does anyone have any recommendations for jetty fishing besides Ocean Shores and Westport? I'm going to head over that direction and play up and down the coast for a week to ten days coming up this month, and would love to catch a few rockfish, greenling, perch, and maybe a lingcod. My schedule is very open, all I have is time

There is the north jetty at Ilwaco. I've never fished off of that one but I've heard it can be good. I recall a post years back on another site where a guy caught a halibut off that jetty. I've also heard it can be covered in bird poo and swarming with flies too though.

We fished the North Jetty over Spring Break this year. First time for me since I fished it with my Grandpa before the Mtn. blew. Tried for Springers, and struck out. Limited on Black Rockfish and were one short of our Lingcod limit the first day. I had a dandy to finish out our Lings, but it broke off at the top of the "hoist". (There was no way to get down to net it). No crab, but didn't try very hard either. Only fished for a couple hours the next day, and only kept two Rockfish. We threw a couple Rockfish back a piece that just needed to grow more. Bring a LOT of jigs, as the rocks are...snaggy.
Never have fished the Westport Jetty, but have heard there are Greenling, and the Lings are bigger.
Be careful on that Jetty. My wife's boss had to get life flighted several years ago. A swell washed him into the river, and then the swells slammed him over and over until his buddies fished him out. Broken pelvis, and some cracked vertebrae. I think common sense is all a person needs, but those rocks can be slippery, and after fishing it, I can see how it could happen.

I’ve got myself completely rigged up with all the gear to fly fish the jetty for black rockfish. Just haven’t gone yet. 100% the first trip I do with be to the north jetty in Ilwaco. Once we get through these busy next few weeks, I’m going to try hard to make a trip down there.

I fished off it last summer off the advice of another member here. Its nice easy access, the rocks were slick in the morning. I had other stuff planned so only fished a little while. I did see several salmon swim by. It's worth it to spend time looking around for a good spot you can comfortably fish from and realistically net.

Also, if your going to stay somewhere, the Salt Pub in Ilwaco is very nice for the price compared to long beach hotels.

Felt soles really help traction on the jetty!

Anyone ever hit anything north of Ocean shores? I was thinking of maybe even hitting the jetty out of Neah Bay.

This is my plan...right down to the flies
Let me know when you're over here and I'll see if I can make it work.
