no but I ate crap with a full load going through the one tank trap that we forgot about !! It ended in more of a front wheelie with a couple hundred pounds on top of me 😂

    When we got back to camp, we got some more pictures, got the meat hanging from a tree, and then headed down to the Nordman tavern and got hamburgers and a few beers.

   
   It will take a while to repay the over 50yro meat packers, Rowdy, Jake and Brian. (Brian dropped everything 2 years ago to help me get a big Blacktail out of a hole) They didn’t even hesitate when they got word that I got the bull down. Within 2hrs they were on the road, driving 6-1/2 hrs to help me pack him out.  Can’t express enough gratitude.

The moose scouts

  My son Errett was with me all but the last 2 days. He had the bull grunting and cow calling down. He called in 2 shooter bulls that just didn’t work out for us. I wish he could have been there at the end, but he had to go back to work for a few days. (I really feel bad for fireman) 

   Derek, Evan, and Dylan. They came over for nearly a week to scout and were hoping to pack some meat.  I was about their age when I first started putting in for this tag. Hopefully you guys will draw somewhat sooner.   Thanks guys.

All summer long leading up to the hunt my dad had planned on coming over for a few days. He wasn't feeling up to it when the time actually came. He decided to stay home and feed the chickens.   He was pretty impressed with the size of a moose.

Thanks for sharing the adventure, all of us dream of such opportunities. These are the adventures that make hunting great and I great full for all those that share such an amazing experience. Fantastic animal!

  Thanks most of all to my wife. She doesn’t have any interest at all in the killing or going a week or so without a shower, but she has always supported us and made sure we were ready to go. She makes sure we have lots of food, clothes, guns, hunting licenses, Nreach, and even the clips to our rifles…… I’m sure I’m forgetting something……..That she will probably remind me of.  .  She leads the charge in processing the animals, keeping things clean and organized. The two of us spent 10hrs from start to clean up cutting, grinding and wrapping the moose meat.  I don’t think either of us will forget that marathon.  . 
 The day Dylan left I had also planned on leaving for a while. When I was talking about leaving and taking a break, she could tell I was on the fence about it. So, she told me I should stay until Sunday. If I came home early, I would be miserable.  I'm glad she said that. 
       I’ve got an awesome wife and I know it.

     My 2025 once in a lifetime Selkirk moose hunt couldn’t have gone any better. I ended up getting a bull hunting the way I love hunting.  Out a few miles behind a gate, in post card worthy beautiful wild country with no cell phone reception.
The highs and lows of over 21 days of hard hunting. The total relief when I tagged out. I’m sure that only guys that have drawn OIL tags can relate too.
   There’s definitely a level of pressure that comes with a tag like this.  The first thing I did was tell everyone that I drew the tag and THAT was supposed to be the hard part…
Then your expectation is that it’s got to be a wall hanger, because it’s the only moose tag in Washington you're going to get.   
 Then you start hunting and realize quickly it wasn’t going to be a slam dunk.  Like most people in Washington, I didn’t know anything about moose. I hadn’t even seen 1 in real life.  The only thing I had going for me was that I’m an avid blacktail hunter. I’m used to going a few days without seeing a deer. LOL The internal clock ticked a little louder every day.
 
  I had an absolute blast and wouldn’t change 1 part of it.     I hope you all get drawn some day.   Thanks
