Accura MR-X 45 load development
« on: July 08, 2025, 05:20:37 AM »
Hey members I just wanted to share some info and ask if anyone has any better ideas on developing the best load for my new gun?  Running the MR-X 45 with a 3x9 scope yes not legal for hunting but trying to decide on a load and eliminating the human error as much as possible.  5 loadings tried so far I need to reshoot the 200xtp with 100g T7.  Only took a 2 shot group.  So far aside from the one flyer or I pulled the shot the 80g with xtp is the most accurate with the SST runner up.  Pretty disappointing results with the ELR bullets that are supposed to be the best for the gun seems CVA is wrong on that one.

80g T7 w/200g XTP in Harvester crush rib

100g T7 w/200g XTP in Harvester crush rib

100g T7 w/195g Barnes ExpanderMZ

100g T7 w/200g SST

100g T7 w/285 power belt ELR

God speed in your hunt for accuracy. Imo cva has a bore issue with their 45 cals.  I had an lr-x for a while and after a bunch of components wasted had to send it back. None of the other 45's they pulled from the rack would meet accuracy issues so they ended up refunding me. Customer service was absolutely top notch. They've got the 50's dialed it seems but I think they need to go back to the drawing board with the 45 cals :twocents:

Thanks Karl for the reply.  I know there were some issues with the 45 cal guns bore running big.  But I thought the biggest issue was solved by a bad batch of power belt bullets.  Did you test it with bullet/sabot combinations or just power belt?  And when was this that you had a 45 you were trying out?

I tried powerbelt elr's, saboted xtp's, precision rifle ballistic tips, as well as some of the fancy stuff from Parker, cutting edge, and fury. Blackhorn209 as well as T7.  Between the loose bore and the sloppy primer fit allowing a ton of blow back out of the breech it was a recipe for disaster.  After a few shots the trigger/hammer assembly would get so dirty it wouldn't stay cocked.   The rifle checked all the boxes except for the accuracy and function. You know, the important stuff :chuckle:  Yours IS shooting much better than mine was so hopefully you can find a winning combo. Keep us posted.

All groups are from 100 yards, I failed to mention in original post.  Did some more shooting today didn't get to the 195 barnes but the other 3 I shot in front of 90 grains of tripple 7 loose FFG.  With the T7 winchester 209 primers.

Very happy with the SST,  wondering if the XTP would perform better with the high pressure sabot instead of the crush rib I'm currently using.  80 grains of powder the XTP shoots great, 90 it's not bad but spread out more than I'd like.  Have 280g Bore Driver ELDX coming next week and 90 grain T7 with barnes 195 to try still.  But it will be hard to beat that SST group.

Power Belt ELR is total garbage.  So loose in the bore I can pull it back out with just a loading jag threads lightly engaged the plastic tip and comes right up.  Will use to rough sight the 1x scope then I'm done with power belt
