Multi Season leftovers
« on: August 08, 2025, 08:10:02 PM »
Anyone know when and how the state is going to sell the rest of the multi season tags? Last few years was a crap show, and I don't expect anything less this year, but I'll still be trying to get one.

No idea.   I do not like how they handle it now.   I'd rather have it first come first served like it was originally for the left overs.

There are such few elk tags left over they just notify the next in line who didn’t draw, that’s a better way IMO, but who knows how they will do it this year????  They will prob be dumb azz's and switch back to first come first serve.  The deer usually go up for sale for first come, I believe. Last year the deer sold out in minutes.

I was also wondering about this and looked up last year...they went on sale Aug 21, and looks like the press had articles about it on Aug 20, so don't expect a lot of heads up time.

Nah,  they did the next in line for deer.   What sucks is i was notified in late September,  so missed mule deer archery so I passed on it.   They really need to get their ducks in a row earlier so people can make plans.

So stupid, just over 500 authorized dealers in the state, find the one that has their poop in a group and be first in line.  If you are second, you won’t get a tag.  Some real dip chits at WDFW, they just can’t do what works.

Yeah i don't understand why they changed the elk.

I wonder if there is going to be less demand this year for deer and elk since the price increase.

Can someone explain it to me like I'm a child please?

I applied for a multi-season tag, no luck.

I only hunt deer with a bow, no firearms.
I will be hunting early archery deer season in September
I also want to hedge my bet in case I do not get a deer in September

If I buy a left-over multi-season tag now (some how beat the rush) and choose Modern Firearm as my weapon, will I still be able to hunt the September early season with a bow, and if I do not get a deer, then hunt October Muzzle-loader season with a bow, and if I still do not get a deer then hunt the Nov-Dec Modern Firearm season with a bow?

The unit I hunt, 504, allows all 3 seasons

Is this how the multi-season tags work?

if you’re hunting in a unit that already allows all three weapons over-the-counter and that’s a unit you’re gonna stay in, you don’t need the multi season deer tag. But if you wanna hunt other units and you wanna use any weapon, I should say hunt during archery and muzzleloader and rifle then you would want the multi season deer tag. The advantage of having the multi season deer tag in the first drawing is you can apply for special permits in different weapon groups. If you try to get a multi season, Tag, bring your current deer tag with you because you have to exchange it in for the multi season Tag if you do get one.

I think it should be who was ever next in line on the original drawing.

Why get in line for something you already got in line for.

This is like throwing out scrapes for the dogs to fight over.

I also think everyone one should be able to hunt all methods with no additional cost to residents. The fear of everyone going to the same secret hot spot would work itself out without government interference.

When you get a multi-season tag, you turn back in whatever your active tag is which sounds like it's archery and you don't elect a single weapon choice. From there, you can hunt any open unit with the weapon specified. You can hunt your september archery, if no luck, october muzzy with a bow, and then the same for late season rifle with a bow.
