My in line came with both nipples. What one is better and more consistant. I am using pyrodex as my powder.

I would use the musket cap. The musket cap is alot bigger than the #11 and throws out alot more flame. IMHO might as well use the one that throws out the most flame. I've had missfires when I used to use the #11. I've used musket caps for five years now and have NEVER had a missfire.

Great advise, I bought both and will see what works best. I like the idea of the musket cap's size for two reasons. They are large enough to see for one, and the do throw alot of flame.

I use the #11 magnums mostley. I don't use musket caps because I also carry cap-n-ball revolver(s).No point having in having something that don't go with both.

Some folks selling musket cap nipples claim:
"Musket caps produce ignition fire that is 700° hotter than standard No.11 percussion caps."
I don’t buy that though, I’ve tried both and I haven’t noticed much of a difference. I do notice a Big difference when using 209 primers. 209 primers are many times hotter than any type of cap, which is why they remain illegal here.

musket caps all the way. you aren't gonna notice a difference out on the range shooting, they will both do the same thing. Its game time that really counts. Why have a cap that goes pop when you can have a cap that goes BOOOM! That is why 209's are better because they have more flame. Musket caps just have more flame than a #11.

I have had a few misfires with the #11's, especially on a western Washington wet morning, have not had a misfire with a musket cap.

I've only had 1 hang fire in 11 years with the musket cap/nipple. It's the only way to go!

I like musket caps because they are easier for my fat fingers to get it on the nipple when it's go time for a possible follow up shot.

Musket cap worked well. I'm sold. Anybody want some #11 magnum caps?? Brand new and free to anyone that has comented on this post up to this point. I bought both and have since bought more of the musket caps. Don't need them, so if you are in Wenatchee area let me know.

I bet if you taped them all together and hit them with a big hammer they'd make one big boom
