Pistol red dots

I recently picked up an M&P 10mm and am thinking of adding a red dot sight to it. It sucks getting old and trying to focus on pistol sights  :chuckle:. I have astigmatim and wear glasses and am told I need progressive lenses so hoping one of these would work for me without too many issues with the light.

For those that have experience, are the red dots better than green? Do you like these type of sights? What brand d you recommend? I am thinking $250-$350 range. The Trijicon RMR seems to be a top choice but too spendy. The Holosun looks pretty good. Lots of different choices. Vortex has a few but not confident on those.

Color, I think, is more of a personal preference. Dot size may be more important than color depending how far out you shoot.
I have dots I bought new and some used. The used cheap one I have ($40) is sitting on a 44 mag and so far is working fine.
Cuterebra are NOT cute!

I have a vortex on my m&p 2.0 10mm works great and confident aligning dot on target

I have a few red dots.  I have minor/modest astigmatism.  Without correction I get a bit of a starburst.  In a precision function, that can impede accuracy.  In an SD function, it's really academic.

Color is rather irrelevant and would more be determined by background.  There are switchable options.
