Here is an article I saw. 4-6 week wait for CWD test results before you can get your meat back from butchers crazy

I'm surprised butchers will touch wild game.  I wouldn't be surprised to have their regular customers start to ask if they process wild game at some point.

I agree. Having to hold game meat 4-6 weeks during the heart of hunting season would really crowd freezers for livestock customers. Not to mention the chance of cross contamination.

4-6 weeks is what WDFW was saying before they mandated testing.
Now being inundated with hundreds of “new” samples, I would expect three months before you get results back. I’m guessing they’re not going to up their staffing for the inevitable influx, but I could be wrong. 🤣

Looks like i picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

Save yourself some money and process yourself. Let it sit in your own freezer until you get results!

From the wdfw website.

If you harvest a deer, elk, or moose in eastern Washington within Region 1, you are required to have it tested for CWD. For submission details, visit the WDFW CWD information page. If you want to have your deer, elk, or moose that was harvested outside of Region 1 tested, visit the website, and follow instructions on how to mail-in your sample.

I've already been hearing mixed reactions from local hunting communities.
Everything from folks decided not to hunt, not to report harvest,to  just having it tested.
So definitely a mixed bag of different opinions and options that folks intend to do or comply with the new rule changes.
