Thanksgiving duck hunt
« on: November 26, 2025, 08:31:00 AM »
My dad and I, used to duck hunt every thanksgiving morning. Dad's moved  to a better place, but I will be out, with dad in spirit. Anyone else, hunting in the morning? Have a great Thanksgiving!

It's a yearly tradition and the normal start to my waterfowl season.

Same here typically.   Back by noon and about to enjoy the rest of the day with family

Decades ago, the whole family would go up to Central Valley in calif. thanksgiving week.  We would star out in the duck blind early morning, grab a few ducks, then start pheasant hunting in the rice fields.  Get our limit of rice stuffed pheasants then head back to the club house, where our trailer was parked grab breakfast.  Mon would stuff the turkey then cook it in the great big oven!  My hunting buddies would go behind the club house property and hunt more pheasants till about 3 pm. Then get back to the trailer, wash up, snd it would be TURKEY TIME.  Tethers would be the four of us, and four more, hunting buddies and we would get stuffed and lay about either in our trailer or our friends and moan about “We are too much!”.  As with most of you that are in my age group both parents are gone, but the memories are with us!

EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT RHANKSGIVING!

We used to do that every year. I feel like we consistently had more success with geese on Thanksgiving than most other days.

Hope you had some good luck this morning!

Skipped the hunt this season to spend with the kids in EWa. Did a few shoots in the past but my favorite was going to the Satsop for some jumbo silvers and be home by 10am.
