Perfect evening hunt
« on: November 30, 2025, 07:44:08 PM »
My wife and I had spent the day chasing and photographing bucks. We were headed back to camp and I spotted this buck trailing up a ridge. We turned around and got where I thought we could access a basin that was up from this buck. It was a guess.   We got into position and here he comes. It was a fantastic end for the day.  My wife is not a hunter, but I got to show her quite a bit of the game this fall.  We had several very successful “hunts”.

Too me, that is exactly what my version of a perfect buck is. Im not all that in to tones of points, or width with no mass, or mass with no width. He has, to me, exactly what an absolute stud should look like. Good width, tall, really good mass, huge body, in the peak of his life. Such a stud

He evoked the same emotion in me.  My wife noted that even though we had seen or filmed several bigger bucks, I seemed really excited about this one.

Man they really don't get much better looking than that (ok maybe a set of 3" brows but lets not get greedy) what a great buck!

I was back in the same area early the next morning, about a mile away, driving down the road and out of the corner of my eye spotted a buck bedded.  I thought it was this guy.   I came to a halt which of course stood him up and he very nonchalantly headed for cover.   It was a different buck (different eyeguards) and  bigger.   I was staring straight at the sun peaking out and he was in the shade.  Terrible photos.   I'll get him on here sometime soon.   I ended up filming 6 big fours in this area. About 5 years ago, some buck did his rounds with the ladies.

THank you!
