Reinforcing stock for bipod
« on: December 12, 2025, 02:50:41 PM »
I have a stock Ruger M77 MKII that I bought when I was 16, 25 years ago. It is not the rubberized paddle stock, but the hollow synthetic. The sling stud on the foregrip pulled out years ago and I've fixed it with epoxy now a couple of times. I've found that since I started using a bipod that those fixes done hold anymore. I'm trying to figure out the best way to reinforce the front end of the stock and I'm looking for advice. I've considered inserting a block of some form in there and epoxying it into place. I've also considered just adding a picatinny rail to it. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience they'd be willing to share?

I don't know what they're called but I have inset and epoxied these into a couple of my factory synthetic stocks. They come with the SRS rails and seem to hold well

I just watched a video where a guy installed a short pic rail and epoxied in those same t-nuts. That seems to be the best solution. It seems I could probably get away with just putting in one of those, but do you see a real benefit to installing a short, 2-3" pic rail and attaching to that? Weight penalty would be negligible, and seems the connection would be much more robust.

Those are called a tee nut. then you could use a nutsert or Rivnut it acts like a molly bolt when you screw down the screw it expands and wedges itself into whatever it is in.

Google is your friend.
