Humptulips: have you had a chance to ask WDFW why they call us “recreational” trappers now?

So, I just finished a meeting with Stephanie and she said she would try and not use the word recreational. I think the department is going to have a hard time curbing their use of the word. I made it clear why we object but you could tell by the tone of her voice she was having a hard time understanding. May take a few times reinforcing why we don't like it.

I see. One thing for sure and to show a trail of our injections and their responses: “ if it’s not in writing, it didn’t happen”.
Thanks, Humptulips

I do not think there is any hidden motive behind DFW using the term recreational. The Commission doesn't come into play at all. This is strictly coming from management. I think they use the term because they don't know there is a problem with it. There is no reason they have to put recreational i front of trappers. I will speak to them and make our feelings known. I bet that is all it takes.

Really?
Sorry, but after a lifetime of living in Washington State watching the VERY intentional eroding of hunting and fishing here I do NOT believe that it was accidental or without nefarious intent for future use. Why would they purposefully change the wording? It would take more effort to change it than leave it alone.
Future fee increase? Elimination of more opportunity? While I do not look for motive behind every action, THEIR actions in this State make me think there is a future purpose behind the action.

GWP is RIGHT ON THE MONEY....its slicing the salami, just one more thin slice...we promise.  then another, and Another and ANOTHER...

Just like the State on Gun Control....speaking of which  PAY ATTENTION *censored*...overload your legislators and Reps with exhortations to VOTE NO on the plethora of new gun control bills.
A Smith & Wesson Beats Four Aces.

Whatta ya mean I can't have one of each?

What we have here is...Washington Department of NO Fish and WATCHABLE Wildlife.

WDFW is going farther and farther backwards....we need FISH AND GAME back!
