Sky Rover Binoculars. Alpha glass, bargain price.

So I had never heard of these binoculars before but stumbled accross this thread on Rokslide.

 Guys were claiming these binos were just as good as all the alpha glass for 1/5 of the price. I did a little research myself and after some compelling reviews I decided to roll the dice and order a pair. I found the 12x50s on ebay for $588 shipped. After about 4 weeks I was starting to think I had been scammed but then they showed up. Quality seemed good. They are a little bulkier and few Oz heavier than other camparable sized binos. Not an issue for me.

Ive never owned true alpha glass but these are superior to all the vortex and athlon optics I've had. We put them side by side with my buddies 14-52 swaro NL pures and the swaros weren't any better. Glassing was from tripods middle of the day and later into the day looking strait into the sun. Didn't get a chance to compare in low light yet. We both have spring bear tags so ill make sure to put them side by side in low light and see how they do. Ill report back afterwards. So far I'm happy with the purchase.

Every size is sold out on their website. Word is traveling fast that they are a good value fir what you get. I'd definitely like to try some 15s

Did you end up getting the newer model with 44mm eyecups and supposed to have some other upgrades? Or did you get the older model with 48mm eyecups. I see them all over Ebay for a couple bills less than the new models.

I remember a few years back the new greatest cheap optic were Zenrays, where are they now, I don't think I'd be buying an optic that's ⅕ the price of Alpha glass and expect them to hold up to 30 years of what you thought was comparable to Alpha glass, my guess is that if you still have them in thirty years they will either be lost in a drawer somewhere or you'll be comparing them to Tasco, don't be cheap if you want the best or there save your money instead of wasting it on the next big thing

Ill disagree with the last poster. For 1/5th the price of alpha glass it's not going to break a person to try them. I bought a pair of the Zen Ray ed3 10x42 back in the days. Don't remember how long ago but it's been well over 10 years and they are still going strong. No regrets whatsoever. Still get used a lot. As do my Meostars that were way less than Alphs glass but are favorably compared to them.

I like quality budget gear and will most likely buy some of these in 12x50. Mostly for the wife when she's riding around with me. If something happens to them I won't feel bad about it. This company has actually been around for several years.

The only reason I wouldn't by these for 8s if she likes Sig Zulu 6 16x50 better. She got to look through some the other day and is considering it!

I bought some 10x42 Alpens on a budget of gift cards when I was young and married with kids at Sportman's 17 years ago... They were on clearance for $199... Still using them... They're knock off Leupolds... Have attempted to upgrading a few times in the last 5 years... Yeah Swaro's are better looking through when I bring mine in the store to compare side by side... And the stabilizing binoc's are sweet! But those are $3k+... Now the bino's aren't blowing me out of the water to change any perspectives viewing them in store compared to my $200 vs $500-1000 category they have out now... But if I can't look through it before I buy it... I'm not buying it... I wear glasses...
