Sure, but they usually rip the entire log open. Are there any other grubs or ants left in there, otherwise them might not be back.

Hard to really tell it is pretty torn up. This is about a 10 min hike down a clear cut so not from a human unless they are as dumb as me.

It is possible that a bear did it. Hard to say for sure from the photo. Was there anymore similar damage in the area?

The only thing around was not damage just lot of game trails.
