From this weekend

We had swarms of Waxwings down at our property, more than I've ever seen, the berries are early and everywhere.

Nothing makes a better pie than huckleberry. Reminds me to get my kids out to pick some...  :chuckle:

Dman, what elevation are the berries ripe at right now?

We're just under 1,000 feet and had ripe Huckle, Salmon and a few trailing blackberry also starting to ripen, as well as a ton of Red Elder.

We didn't have this last year this early did we? Seemed that even during the bear opener, the hucks were still little green thingys...no berries this early last year?  :dunno: Maybe I am losing it...

There seemed to be lots of red and blue huck last bear opener. There should be a lot more this year.
Saw some folks picking little black berries today. I think they only got about ten pints, but just down the road from there they could have picked ten gallons.
