July product review
« on: July 17, 2009, 04:58:52 PM »
Our July product review is on the new F15 broadhead by Carbon Express. This head is a cut on contact style with four bleader blades. The head is constructed out of 440 stainless steel. I did some product testing on these heads and found them to be very accurate impacting the same spot at 50 yards on the target as my field tips. Penetration was good I compared it to some Tight Point Shuttle T-Loc's and they penetrated the same depth in my Mckenzie shot blocker target.

The set-up used for testing.
2008 Bowtech Alegance set at 70# Speed 299fps.
Octane Trip Wire rest
D-Loop
Spot-Hogg 5pin

What type of fletching is on your arrows?  I have never seen this before!  Can you educate me?

Thanks!

Well definitely get the "coolest looking" award.  Are they sharp out of the package and what do they cost?

FOB's have been around for a few years...guys that try them swear by them.  I've never tried them.  I love feathers but recently went to Blazer vanes.  I think I"m going back to feathers.  I like the stabilization of a good helical feather fletching.   :twocents:

you need a drop away rest. We use the Limb Driver rest and Rip Cord with them and we are testing the new TripWire from Octane.

I talked to guy today that did his own backyard milk jug test with these and he said the jug emptied second fastest only to the Rage expandable and were dead on accurate at 300 fps. He said he shot the Steel force, Shuttle T, F-15 the rage and one other.
Shut up and Hunt!

Cory, go kill a bear opening day so I can see what kind of damage they do. You know I'm very intrigued with those broadheads.  I'll probably just have to try them.  I think I'll go Google them in case there are pics up already.
