bad luck. need a new scope
« on: July 17, 2009, 10:04:26 PM »
Well my scope on my 338 wont hold zero anymore. Im lookin to get a new one an only have $200 to spend. I have looked at the bushnell banner 6-18x50 an its pretty clear. My other  bushnell  has taken a beating  with out a problem. Any one know if it will hold up to a 338 win? Bear opens soon an its my only rifle.

I had that banner on a 22-250 a few years ago and I was not happy with it. Not clear past 10X or so. I was trying to save some money. Just cost me more in the long run cause I wasted that $100 and then bought a new scope. Should have just saved and bought better glass. :twocents:

Look at Leupold VX-i. About $229. Cant beat their warranty.

Well I should be ordering one on monday. I looked though the 4-12 vortex diamond local an it had a blue ring on the out side edge an so did the viper :dunno: I didnt notice it on the crossfire. I looked though a pentax an it was pretty nice, konus seemd to be right there too. I havent found a leupold, bushnell 3200, or nikon to look though yet .

Be carefull with the Pentax... the eye relief is pretty short (like under 3.5")... that my cause a problem on a .338... not with the optics, but with your face.

I picked up a 3-9x50 3200 Elite with the Firefly reticle for 200 bucks shipped last year on ebay.  It was brand new, never opened.   If I can find another, will be buying it for my deer rifle.

On the Vortex scope, can you get the BDC reticle tuned for your caliber and load?  or is it sight in, then shoot at the next line to see where it hits, etc...

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
