Pasayten Airstrip - Elk
« on: July 21, 2009, 06:04:17 PM »
I read that there aren't much for elk herds in the Pasayten GMU.  Has anybody seen anything up near the airstrip?  It looks like you can get there via a road out of Mazama.

Nevermind, I was reading the map wrong.  That is a trail not a dirt road so I won't be scouting that area.

I don't believe there are any elk in there anyway.

I saw a beautiful 5x5 (320 class) bull with 20 cows up there once to, but I still didn't go to the pasayten to hunt elk. LOL

That's Muley country. Don't bother looking for Elk; not much to see.

That's what I thought. A friend of mine saw two raghorns standing in the road that leads to the Goat peak trail earlier this month! What's up with that? Also, a couple years ago I saw a cow elk down in one of the fields off of highway 20 heading back towards Winthrop.
