Sinlahekin, after the fire.
« on: April 22, 2007, 03:09:37 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has seen the country around the Tiffany mountains this spring?  Is it a disaster?  Still a lot of snow?  Lot of dead trees across the roads?  I want to go look for myself maybe Memorial Day, see how much is still green.

I haven't been though I was pleasantly surprised when I was up in the November season for photography.  I thought the lowlands or winter range was hammered but there was quite a bit still standing.  I'm with you.  I'm afraid to look.

I looked at a map the forest service had on a web site and although the detail was lacking it looked like a fire line was built right along the ridge we like to hunt.  I know some fires skip around and leave cover standing, I just hope that is the case there.  The last time I was there I saw a four point buck just out of rifle range, but he had to be the heavest deer I've seen.  Not big antlers, but blocky.  A buck my friend got in that area was prime cut venison.  I'm really anxious to go deer hunting this fall.

I heard Lone Frank burned.  I guess it almost went clear to the border.  So much for those cute little Lynxs up there.
