Does anyone shoot these? If so what are your thoughts on penetration and performance when compared to other carbon shafts ?

I am not about to go buy any but I was wondering if we have some first hand experience from our members. I just bought some more carbon express shafts from TradtechArchery. I love that they sell the shafts individually. I don't have to drop 100 dollars on every order.

I am interested in this too, since I will be buying some shafts in the next couple of weeks and these were near the top of my list to look at. I am stuck in the stone age when it comes to the new technology with bows and shafts.

THey are on my list too. I'd sure like to try them. I lost two shafts yesterday. One plain disappeared though my backdrop of hay bales and the other one exploded or shattered when I was shooting a gourd in my garden. Not sure what caused it, but its no more. Expensive day onthe range.

Those grizzly are more expensive than what I am shooting right now. I'll probably buy a test kit this winter.

Sure that shaft didn't break on the gourd

Have you guys used the Arrow Dynamic Shafts? I was thinking of getting a couple of them to compare to the grizzsticks.

I went a little overboard and ordered a half dozen of the arrow dynamics too. I'll give you guys a report. Luckily I stopped myself before I bought some single bevel broadheads and that KME Sharpening system. I'm going to have to go sell a kidney.

Thats the problem when you have been out of the game for so long. I had to upgrade all of my stuff at one time. Now I can spread it out, a little here, a little there. I may cry when I break my first shaft.

The Alaskans showed up today. Awesome customer service and packing of the arrows. I had them cut them down and glue inserts for an extra $8.00. I'll compare them with my easton xx75, and with some cedar shafts, and let you know what I think later tonight. I just have to get the kids in bed first.

My neighbor shoots the Alaskans out of his 58# longbow. Loves them. They sure fly well for him. I have not made the jump to those high dollar shafts. I still like my Beman ICS Hunters too well.

I bought some a few years back, and they sure are tough! I need some inserts from them bouncing off of hard wood while I was stump-shooting. The arrows are O.K. but you need a chainsaw to get my inserts back!!

They shot great right off the get-go. Flew like a dart at 15 and 25 yards with 125 gr field points. That's as far as I can go in my backyard. Had a little bit of a kick when shooting 125 thunderheads, but the same point of impact. I'll throw a couple of glue on inserts on them, put on the howard hill two blades and see how those shoot before deciding on what I will use, and tuning them to one of those heads. With the Alaskans, I had about 1-1/4" more penetration than cedar shafts and the xx75 which are cut to 29". I had 1-1/8" of additional penetration when compared to the Easton Gamegetter II. It also appeared that they retained there speed noticeably more than the aluminum and cedar shafts even at 25 yards. I could not see a difference in trajectory either.

I don't know how that compares with other carbon shafts since I have only shot aluminum and cedar. I will let you know how they compare to the Arrow Dynamic shafts when those get here. Sorry if that doesn't help you guys much, I just don't have a background in shooting carbon shafts. I can tell you that I would buy them again, as long as I can tune the broadhead flight. We'll see how that goes.

When I bought them it was because I could not make up my mind between my 55# Damon Howatt x-300, my 60# Kodiak Magnum, 64# 1952 Grizzly, my 65# Martin Hunter, or my 70# Damon Howatt Hunter and they were spined 50-100#, so with 160gr Wensel Woodsmans I could use the same arrows no matter what bow I chose to carry. I wish I could afford some more, but out of the dozen I bought, I still have 9 of them and the ones I lost/broke are not the ones I have harvested 2 deer and 1 elk with! Those are still good (although covered in dried blood!)

You know a wet wash cloth will get that blood off right?

I am only shooting these out of a Schulz longbow which shoots right around 65# with my draw length. When doing my research I read that the 45-65 lb bows had a hard time stabilizing the Alaskans, and that a lot of folks liked the Arrow Dynamic shaft for these bows. I really wanted the Alaskans because I am a big believer in shooting a heavy-as-possible-arrow through a traditional bow. We'll see how they compare.

I'm shooting the AD Hammerheads out of a 58# Pronghorn L/B. So far I like them, shoot straight and are super durable. I've never tried the Alaska's but hear both good and bad about them. Supposedly, they aren't as easy to tune as the AD's, guess it depends on the bow and/or shooter. Good luck with them!

Both of my orders came with inserts. I had to buy a pack of the screw-in adaptors for a glue-on broadhead to try out the two-blades that I have.

Ok so if I do not have glue on broadheads there is nothing "extra" to buy.
