Dye a Bear Rug?
« on: July 31, 2009, 01:38:01 PM »
Can you guys dye a bear rug pink?  My little girl wants one for her room.  I know crazy question, but I am being serious.  I know it works on my fly tying materials.   :dunno:

You would have to bleach it white first so you could see the pink.  If it were me I would just go with pink felt and do a rug.

Yeah you could run the chance of messing with the leather trying to bleash the bear hide.  Not saying it couldn't be done.  May be out of a lot of peoples price range.  Atleast if you do the felt you can or she can have it changed out if she ever grows out of it.

;)  I keep pink and purple felt on hand for such occations.

What you need is a polar bear hide. LOL

Another option would be to buy one of those white sheep skins. I've seen them for sale at Costco before, they're snow white and very soft and luxurious, should be easy to dye one pink.
