That is a photo that says stuff to the viewer. Thanks for capturing such a magnificent animal.

I love the way that type of lens (wide aperature??) blurrs all around the subject, but I too find that extreme blurr at the front of the photo to be distracting...
THat is a cool old buck...I wonder if he'll come out of winter? is that in Washington Shawn?

Very cool old buck, I shot one like that once where the one eye was definitely not entirely right, even after the death clouding takes over, always wondered if he was blind in the one side. I know he tasted like dog doodoo and he made me pay for hiking into the hell hole to get him. I like to think that despite the fact I killed him he went down knowing the score would be even when all was said and done.

He is likely blind in the left eye from fighting. Wild animals often isolate themselves from others when they lose sight, or partial sight. The opaque look is a loss of integrity of the retina, unless it is from discharge which doesn't appear to be the case. He likely won't survive this winter, too bad someone didn't put him down this year.

He was definitely hurting when he finally walked away from me. I don't think he is alive today... and it's been 1 month now since I took the shot... No Ernie, it's not a WA buck. In fact, he lives over by you...

He looks a lot bigger in that straight on shot, looks heavier too. Great pics Pope love the knobby bases
