Buying a Ground Blind -- Help me Choose!
« on: August 13, 2009, 04:08:41 PM »
Okay, so I'm pretty set my buddy and I will hunt from a blind this year. It sounds like the Primos Double Bull is the blind to beat, but at $350, I think I'll go for a more value-priced option.

Here are my needs:
  • For deer and elk hunting
  • NOT for predators, waterfowl, turkeys, etc.
  • My hunting buddy is 6'2" and I am almost 6'0"
  • For archery AND rifle hunting
  • Bulky and heavy is fine--I can carry lots of gear and don't need it to be lightweight/small

I am considering:
  • Ameristep Penthouse TSC. LOTS of room. $180
  • Primos Ground Max Predator Den Blind $130
  • Primos Ground Max The Escape $170
  • something else?

I'm leaning toward the Penthouse because it would be tall enough for me to draw and hold the bow while standing, and the others dont' look like they offer that. Please sound off with any opinions you have. Thanks.

have you chose yet? I have been looking into something like this too. Penthouse sounds like the one for you.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the Ameristep Penthouse TSC. I'm a little concerned that its outline might be a bit bulky in the middle of a field. Nevertheless, I just can't argue with a blind that will let me stand and hold my bow at full draw. I definitely would go with something shorter if I were going to gun hunt. I'll PM you when I have a chance to try it out.
