Messing around with Chrono today...
« on: August 22, 2009, 06:05:34 PM »
I was doing some experimenting today and had some interesting results I thought I would share.

Shot 4 different arrow setups over the chrono to start.

Bow is a 2008 Guardian.  60lb limbs 29" draw.  Actual peak weight is 57lbs and actual draw is 29.5".

Vapor 400 by Goldtip 30" arrow, Blazers, 75grain point, total weight 335grs. Point blank over Chrono = 294 avg.

Vapor 400 by Goldtip 30" arrow, Fob, 75grain point, total weight 340grs. Point blank over Chrono = 292 avg.

CX Maxima 250 by  30" arrow, 4" CX Vanes, 100grain point, total weight 362grs. Point blank over Chrono = 285 avg.

CX Maxima 250 by  30" arrow, Blazers, 100grain point, total weight 351grs. Point blank over Chrono = 288 avg.

So then I decided to set mt chrono up about 2 yards in front of my target and move out to 30 yards and shoot over it.  Here is where I thought it got interesting.

Vapor 400 by Goldtip 30" arrow, Blazers, 75grain point, total weight 335grs. Point blank over Chrono = 277 avg.

Vapor 400 by Goldtip 30" arrow, Fob, 75grain point, total weight 340grs. Point blank over Chrono = 267 avg.

CX Maxima 250 by  30" arrow, 4" CX Vanes, 100grain point, total weight 362grs. Point blank over Chrono = 267 avg.

CX Maxima 250 by  30" arrow, Blazers, 100grain point, total weight 351grs. Point blank over Chrono = 272 avg.

This tells me that the Fobs have the most resistance.  My plan is to hunt with the CX Max 250 with Blazers.  Unless there is a drastic difference in accuracy with my Montecs I can't see using the Fobs.  I can see why they are known to steer a BH so well now though.
