too dark or not dark enough??

I have been playing with some sheds and just getting other opinions on wether I am going to dark or not dark enough???

I think your definitely in the ball park with that, it looks good.  Lord knows I've seen'em darker than that in the wild, and certainly seen'em lighter than that as well.

Looks good.  I put a touch of red in Roosie antlers.

Polarbear - like red mahogany? I put 5-10 different colors and would put a light layer on of one and then strip it most of the way off and then kept building it up in layers.

I add a little red oak to dark walnut type antler stain.  Actually, it is a saddle stain from Van Dykes Taxidermy Supply.  I mix it all with black dirt and rub it into the antlers and wipe it off, repeat until you get the color you like.  Yours looks great, I wouldn't change a thing.

the shorter tines dont have as much ivory on the tips as the long tines. Im just looking at a couple elk antlers right now.

I was thinking the same thing.  Blend the color a little farther out on the tips.

once again thanks for the input, I did not go out as far on the tines I am playing with the different stains to blend in, was thinking if I stayed out about 4-6 inches and then faded it in would not be such a drastic change over...

Polarbear thanks for the tips with the dirt and the shades I have 4 sets of antlers to play with so will try that on one of them
