I missed church
« on: September 20, 2009, 12:01:40 PM »
Went out this morning and had spotted a doe from the truck about a mile out. Went after her and got 20 yds from two fork bucks in the area she was. On the way back to the truck I was in a bit of a hurry so I could be home in time to get a shower and go to church. I came around a rock bluff and jumped a doe in the bottom of the draw. I barked at her and she stopped and looked down the draw in the wrong direction so she heard me but didn't know I was right above her. Pulled the range finder up and she was 37 yds. I pulled the bow back and took carefull aim and let go. OH crap- the string hit my arm but I heard the hit. She took off and didn't go forty feet and then flopped over. I couldn't see her but she was down. Waited for ten minutes and looked for my arrow which I did not find and then went over to the deer. I was right that the arrow was off because I hit her in the throat slicing the wind pipe. Sorry for no pics on this one, My wife is at church and I have to get the hide off. She was a mature doe without fawns. Now my general tag is filled and that wraps up deer hunting for me so now I can concentrate on helping my 9 year old daughter getting her tag. She has made it clear that she is only going to shoot a buck.

There are several verses in the Bible that talk about hunting, so I think your OK.  :chuckle:

My wife bought me my first bible about a year ago. It is camouflage and produced by Mossy Oak. The first 10 or 15 pages all deal with hunting and fishing and the bible.  :)

the woods are my church, nice job
No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.
