Baby Girl's first assist on a bull!!!!!!!
« on: September 14, 2009, 06:32:27 PM »
So have been hunting pretty hard since opening day up and down the mountains, I know I have been hunting hard because I lost 8 pounds already which is a good thing my butt was starting to look big in my speedos. Have had a couple of close calls but could never get that last 10 yards. But that is hunting as we know it.  So on to the story of baby girl's first assist...

Yesterday the 13th was a hot one, I hunted in the morning from 530-1000 and decided to head out of the woods with it getting so hot, so I dropped down to camp and did what every hardcore hunter would do, I went in to Toyhauler, started up the generator and turned on the DVD!!!! Decided was not going to hunt the evening hunt was to hot. So after watching the movie Swing Vote, I decided that I was missing my baby girl so I jumped in the truck and headed to the nearest town where I could get cell service, finally got to a place where I had some service called my baby girl and started talking to her and then I started doing some cow talking so she could hear it and she was laughing so I did the next best thing I pulled out the bugle hit a real good high note on it, and she was laughing louder. So I went to put the bugle down and before I could lay it down in the truck this bull just starts screaming his head off. So I did the most important thing that I could do, I told baby girl hold on Daddy will call you right back.

So after grabbing the bow, one arrow, throwing on my release, cow calls and my bugle I run ( as fast as my big A$$ could move) down the trail I was beside get set up under a pine tree in my WHITE T-SHIRT, KHAKI SHORTS AND FLIPFLOPS. And I let out the sweetest cow elk I could and then I catch movement and in he comes at about 60 yards all I can see is his rack over the brush. He then starts raking a tree, so I commence to doing the same He then starts moving to the left, I draw back when he was behind the brush pile, he steps out at approx 40 yards I let the arrow fly, and it went through him so fast I actually thought I missed him until I heard the tell tail sound of a nice double lung shot and him doing just a little choking on himself and that is when I knew if I had not been missing my baby girl there was no way I would have left that nice and cool AC toy hauler…
So after buying all new camo gear this year, I have come to the conclusion as long as you are having fun and enjoying yourself and building memories it just don’t fricken matter what the heck you are doing when it is your time then it’s your time….
Well I am heading back up tonite to give my hunting partner a hand hopefully in getting his bull, and I just got done washing and bleaching my WHITE TSHIRT it hopes that it is a little bit brighter….

Nothing finer than getting yer baby girl in on the act. I got my Girl a bow at age 3, now at 4.5 she can knock and shoot with her little fiberglass bow 10yds and hit the target.  Great story, Sweet bull, and nothing finer than killing on accident.  :IBCOOL:
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

great story...woulda liked to see field photos in flip flops...

I hunted pigs this summer in shorts and flip flops bc I kept in water / swamps all day long!

Id kick my flops off for the last few yards to be extra sneaky...

as for the white shirt...I had on a black shirt that I tossed for an open field sneak...  my tattoos look a lil like real tree...lol

great story and nice bull...

Now, I know what I am doing wrong.  Wearing camo, waterproof/insulated boots, hunting my ass off from dawn to dark.  I need to install a DVD player, get some flip flops, wear white, and have a baby girl to call.   :bash: :bash: :bash:

Congrats on a great elk!!!!!!  Those animals that are complete accidents are the best!!!
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
