Not a nontoxic shot area until 2011 (see p.20 of the FREE WA Migratory Waterfowl & Upland Game Seasons pamphlet).

Without a dog, any pheasant or quail hunting will be TOUGH, but possible. Check the WDFW website; not sure if Big Flat is a pheasant release area or not.

I am assuming you mean the area adjacent to Dalton lake, along the Snake. It is a pheasant release area and it gets hit pretty hard. I've hunted it a couple of times without a dog and it is tough because it is so open (at least along the river portion). Without a dog, I would concentrate on the cornfield area, as it should concentrate the birds a bit more. It is a hike to get to, but it is a good looking area. You'll probably end up seeing more pheasants on your drive out to Big Flat than you will actually in the hunting area!
