A double goat dillema
« on: September 22, 2009, 10:52:20 PM »
Great site!  I am new here, appreciate the passion.

My problem is one that I have not had to deal with before....

I bought an archery moose/ goat hunt in BC for next month earlier this year.  Hunting an area that has never been hunted before (in fact, the guide doesn't think a hunter has been in there since the Klondike).  Then, a month ago, I get a call from Wa Fish and Game that I drew the Goat raffle tag this year.  "Do you want to accept the tag?"  Duh--
This tag entitles me to hunt from Sept 1 through Dec 12, in any unit that has at least 2 draw tags.  I live in Walla Walla, and just don't have the time to get up to Mt Baker, so will be hunting Goat rocks.

I will be in Canada Oct 2-17, and have planned to hunt local goats in the Goat Rocks the first week of November.  Work is killing me, and I have been able to do very little scouting.  I will fly it this weekend, and have poured over google earth and the maps.  Called a couple biologists and have some thin leads.  Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Thanks

Don't waste your time in the Goat Rocks.  You're better off spending a few extra hours driving up to the Mt. Baker units.

Send a PM to Norsepeak, he may be able to help.

He may be in Oregon elk hunting still, so he may not get back right away.
