Cowichee rifle rut hunt
« on: September 25, 2009, 05:17:58 PM »
So My friends son got drawn for the cowichee rifle rut tag  I got reports for the first three days before the season started and then nothing. I got the call for help Tuesday night. Calling in the closer so to speak. LOL I was having a minor surgery Wednesday So I could not go right away. My Doctors told me to rest for a week but I could not contain myself. I loaded up the truck and made sure I had enough pain pills to help. I got there Just in time for the evening hunt. The hunter set his site on nothing smaller than a six point.
When I first heard he got drawn, Knowing he has not hunted long and does not Know the significance of this tag. His dad and I did the best we could to educate him on how to judge a bull with videos and other things.
So now three days into his hunt he was not having much luck thus the call to me. Basically that night we had several bulls talking and a six point walked out with some cows and after teasing him awhile  he could not contain himself, he shot it. I probably would of held out for a bigger bull but considering it was his first Elk and how the week was going I cannot blame him. I am glad I got to participate in his hunt and congratulate Him on his Elk.

No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

yeah it was pretty brutal. He gave him a mercy shot. We were still on our way up to him when it happened. he said it was twitching and he could not handle it.
